Meet the Author and Her Family
Pamela Michelle Mines was born in Richmond, VA and is the wife of Perry Mason Mines. She is thrilled to be the mother of two beautiful children, Michelle Ann Mines and James Perry Mines (affectionately known as JP). JP was diagnosed with a Developmental Delay at 14 months old. At 2 1/2, he was diagnosed with ASD, Autism Spectrum Disorder. Autism knows no racial, ethnic, or social boundaries. Family income, lifestyle, and educational levels do not affect the chance of autism's occurrence. Pam and Perry own their own business, Luv’em Like MINES Youth Services, Inc. (www.luvemlikemines.com); working with at-risk youth ages 5-21, offering Mentoring and other community-based services. The goal at Luv’em Like MINES is to “Encourage a Rainbow of Opportunities.” In many cases, the youth they work with are “differently-abled.” Moreover, because of JP, they can give perspective from a parents’ point of view. There is no denying that having a child with special needs presents many challenges; and oftentimes things have to be modified to accommodate the child’s needs. However, when you think about that, and the fact that GOD chose everyone in that child’s circle specifically, you will find that GOD gave you more credit than you gave yourself. Pam’s hope is that by reading GOD Chose Me you will be inspired knowing GOD chose you to have such a marvelous impact on your child’s life.
